Culture for All: AI at the Service of Accessibility, an event taking place on 8 October at the MACRO Museum in Rome.

Fondazione CHANGES is a partner of the initiative Culture for All: AI at the Service of Accessibility, a day of discussion dedicated to the relationship between artificial intelligence, accessibility and culture, taking place on 8 October 2026 at the MACRO Museum in Rome

Can artificial intelligence make culture more accessible?

It is one of the key questions at the heart of the day, which will bring together institutions, museum and cultural professionals, researchers, businesses, foundations, and accessibility experts to create a space for dialogue between strategic visions, public responsibilities, technical expertise, and practices already being tested.

Artificial intelligence is opening up new possibilities for the cultural sector: from content mediation to the personalization of experiences, from simplifying language to guiding audiences and enhancing collections. At the same time, its use raises new questions and responsibilities: if not carefully designed, AI can in fact create new forms of exclusion, amplify existing barriers, and raise critical issues related to data, bias, privacy, governance, and accountability.

The initiative is promoted by Fondazione Kainòn ETS, together with Fondazione CHANGES, Promo PA Fondazione, ICOM Italia, Fondazione ASPHI ETS, and Università degli Studi di Torino.

During the day, the outcomes of the first edition of INCLUSIVA will also be presented, along with the final publication and the practical toolkit developed to support museums and cultural organizations in designing accessible digital solutions and experiences.

Main themes

The event will explore the relationship between artificial intelligence and cultural accessibility, starting from a number of key issues:

      • the opportunities offered by AI for cultural mediation, content simplification,
        and the personalization of experiences;
      • the risks related to bias, data, privacy, usability, and new forms of exclusion;
      • the role of governance, standards, and accountability in the design and adoption
        of AI-based solutions;
      • co-design as a necessary condition for developing truly accessible technologies;
      • experiences and use cases already being implemented in museums
        and cultural institutions.

The day will therefore provide an opportunity to discuss promises, risks, rules, possible futures, co-design, and practices already underway, with the aim of contributing to a shared reflection on the role of artificial intelligence in cultural accessibility.
